Dear AGNES,
I recently went through something that shook me more than I expected. I was completing an official document process online and believed I was on the correct website. Everything looked legitimate, so I followed the steps and paid the fee.
Later, I noticed a second charge, and then received a confirmation from the actual agency. That’s when it hit me. I had used a third-party service without realizing it. Not exactly an illegal scam, but very misleading. And the charge was totally unnecessary.
What really got to me wasn’t just the money. It brought back an old experience where I had been scammed before, and I felt that same wave of shame. "How did this happen again?” I caught myself spiraling for a moment, but also noticed that I was more aware this time.
I can see that something is shifting in how I respond, but I’m still sitting with the discomfort, the confusion, and a bit of shame. I want to understand what this moment is here to teach me, and how to move through it in a way that actually supports my growth instead of pulling me backward.
What am I meant to see here?
Making Sense of It

Dear Making Sense of It,
You are onto it. This moment landed with a jolt because the transaction touched an older imprint. The part of you that remembers “this has happened before” was activated, and for a brief moment, your system reacted accordingly. And yet, something important has shifted, and I want you to really see that. You noticed. You paused. You questioned. You reached for support. That is a completely different way of moving through this.
And let’s be very clear about something. These kinds of third-party setups are intentionally designed to look legitimate and catch people off guard. They rely on speed, confusion, and trust. This is not about you being careless. This is about a system that is built to be misleading. So no, this is not a moment to beat yourself up. Not even a little.
I pulled four Courage Cards for you. Let them serve as orientation points. You do not need to force meaning. Simply notice what resonates from the images and these reflections, and allow the rest to fall away.
Your Strength: I Don’t Know
You did not rush to label this as failure or collapse into self-blame. Instead, you stayed in the question. “What just happened?” That is powerful, and just like was the case with our last reader, this is easier for you to tap into than you might think. Staying in not knowing keeps you in the present moment, and the present moment is where your power is. From here, you are available for truth instead of old automatic reactions.
What’s Already Working in Your Favor: Ditch the Drama
You are not going down the same spiral. Yes, the wave of discomfort and shame came, but you did not dwell there. You are willing to look at what happened, name it, and stay real with yourself. The old patterns are starting to dissolve, and your energy that once went into protecting an image or feeding shame is now available for awareness and forward movement. Keep going!
Where You’re Being Asked to Grow: Lead by Example
Here is what may be more challenging to do: treat yourself the way a wise, grounded leader would treat you. Be clear and direct with yourself, but also kind. Learn from the situation, and if there is still something that needs to be addressed with the process and the documentation, address it. If something can be released, release it. But don't go into self-harshness. Instead, practice self-understanding.
Action That Would Be Good to Take: Change the Patterns
I invite to use this situation to very practically implement some changes. For starters, decide that you will bring more awareness into your day-to-day interactions with money, decisions, and attention. When it's time to process a payment, take a close look at what you are paying for. Question if something feels off and speak up when something does not align. Also, if something potentially challenging occurs again, alert appropriate parties immediately. All of these actions are seemingly small, but they will help you create a new internal self-trust and confidence.
Bringing It All Together:
This uncomfortable experience was a repetition but not a regression. You brought a lot of awareness to what happened, and while the pattern may not be fully gone yet, your relationship to it has already shifted. So to answer your question directly: what you are meant to see is that you met a familiar pattern in a completely different way, so that is what allows it to begin changing. You reached out, you questioned, you stayed present. And you are showing that you are no longer asleep at the wheel. You are engaged, curious, and responsive.
There is no need to carry this forward as a story of “Oh no, I did it again.” What stands out is that you caught all the challenges and stayed with yourself. That is the new pattern taking root.
I hope that this helps and uplifts you!
In loving support and courage,
AGNES
