I was meditating on the couch with Pixie in my lap, fell asleep, then slid down onto the sofa and continued napping. Boško then jumped onto my legs and lay down on me as well, which says everything about how still I must have been, because he does not typically do that. Scott took the photo to capture the rare moment. From the outside, the moment reads as soft, pleasant, and restorative. All true, however, I know I didn’t arrive to that ease through any conscious choice or preparation. I could feel the effects of cumulative under-rest earlier in the day, but I ignored them despite the slowed thinking and slight imprecision at work. The signals weren't dramatic, which is exactly why they were easy to dismiss. And then I crossed an exhaustion threshold and my body collapsed into the nap, insisting, wisely, that we take the needed break. I promise myself that the next time I'll tune in sooner, and initiate the restorative time.

Are you playing with exhaustion right now, and if so, how?
