Liam and I are standing side by side. He is supporting me in delivering a workshop:
Presence Under Pressure. Human-to-Human Guidance in Finance Beyond the Algorithm.
As I glance at him while speaking, I tune into the complexity of sharing space with my son as co-workers. I am in front of the audience, referencing single parenthood, a defining experience that shaped us, and I revisit the many memories of raising a little boy.
But he is right next to me now, grown. With his own thinking. His own voice. His own way of being in the room.
All of those layers meet in real time in the conference room. The situation asks that I hold this complexity, to stay in my place and let him take his. To trust his wisdom and let him take up space, even as I appropriately hold the lead in guiding the workshop.
We do just that, with pride, ease, enjoyment. We are in the moment, together.
