I am closing out the month of May and opening June.

Scanning the calendar of the past 30 days, a series of meaningful moments emerges: a team member's college graduation, a family wedding, four speaking engagements, dental surgery, hosting an online retreat, and reconnecting with the community of women in finance.

Those are just the biggies.

Under the calendar entries live difficult conversations with loved ones, easy conversations with the same people, dinners, solo work, deck repairs, expensive gas bills, admin work, elder pet care, hyperfocus, procrastination, and all the ordinary moments that make up a human life.

Fulfilling work. Beloved people. Questioning everything. Resurrecting hope. Living on purpose.

Somewhere along the way, I found myself standing right at the precipice of "too much."

Nothing about the last 30 days was wrong. Quite the opposite. Much of what filled the calendar was beautiful, important, and deeply aligned. Even the dental surgery was skillfully performed and part of taking care of myself. But even meaningful things require energy.

Sometimes burnout is not caused by doing the wrong things. Sometimes it comes from saying yes to too many of the right things all at once.

That realization has me entering June with a little more honesty, a little more intention, and a renewed commitment to tending my inner fire.
