I am walking back to the car after a late afternoon lunch. The sidewalk is scattered with pink petals, foreshadowing Valentine's Day. Some are damp, browning and stepped on. They were bright a few days ago but are now turning at the edges. Others are majestically vibrant. Looking at their colorful hotness, I feel hopeful. I am in my boots that mean business, standing in the middle of the disintegrating and the blooming. Nature changing form. I had recently mapped out an important trip with flights and confirmations. It looked aligned and doable on paper. But when I learned some fresh information, my body disagreed. Tight chest, panic, flashbacks, shallow sleep. A clear sign I was grappling with old PTSD gremlins. So I began undoing the plan, one reservation at a time. It stings to change course when you are known for reliability, but this is what conscious leadership looks like in my case, here and now. A clean ending, a bold beginning.
