#MHM2026

May offers a useful pause point to take an honest look at your current state, and consider how you are actually feeling, functioning, and moving through your days, beyond how your life appears on the surface.

Mental Health Awareness Month centers on “More Good Days, Together,” with a focus on community, reducing stigma, and supporting everyday well-being. At Courageous Being, we approach this as a Daily Practice. Mental health is built through small, consistent actions that help you regulate your system, reset when needed, and return to a more grounded state, sometimes with others, sometimes on your own.

Explore Art as Therapy (process over product)

Creative expression gives your system a direct way to process experience without needing to explain or analyze it. It can help reduce stress, shift your mood, and move energy that might otherwise stay stuck. No skill is required: the value is in the act of doing it.

We suggest you give one (or more) of these practices a go:

  • Color without a plan
Start marking the page and let your hand simply move freely. You can also just draw continuously for three minutes without lifting your pen.
  • One emotion, one image
Notice what you are feeling and then look for a simple shape, color, or symbol to represent this feeling.
  • Tear and arrange
Tear paper or magazine pages and place them in a way that reflects your current state.
  • Share or keep it private
You can show your output to someone or keep it private. Both support the process.

Consistent creative moments create real shifts over time. The changes will be subtle at first, and as we often say, self-observation without judgment is key. You are working over time, cultivating inner steadiness one intentional moment at a time.
