We tend to think that our voice comes from our throat. But it’s powered by our whole body, especially our core. Strong core muscles support breath, posture, and vocal clarity. Less strain, more power.
Pro tip:
Strengthen your core, strengthen your voice. Dr. Ivi is back at work but feeling the effects of lost strength—so it’s time to rebuild core. These five exercises may seem silly, but each one is surprisingly effective. They light up deep core muscles and make a difference over time.
- Belly Button Pull-In – Draw your navel toward your spine, hold for 5-10 seconds, then release. Works anywhere, anytime.
- Wall Sit – Lean against a wall, slide into a seated position, and hold. Instant core activation.
- Chair Side Bends – Sit tall, hands behind your head, and lean side to side to wake up your obliques.
- Seated Side Twists – Sit tall, hands on shoulders, and twist slowly side to side for mobility and strength.
- Consider doing your side bends before twists to loosen up and lengthen the muscles along your spine and ribs. This makes twists feel smoother and more effective. When your sides are open, you rotate with more ease.
Bonus tip! Often overlooked as a core strengthener, laughing out loud (yes, really!) works your abs in addition to lifting your mood. Next time you enjoy a good comedy show, consider this tip consciously and feel the difference!
