Did you know that many women in the corporate space have never had a mentor or sponsor, even though the benefits are undeniable? According to WIPN‘s latest research, 46% of women in the retirement industry have never had a mentor or sponsor. Yet, those who do have these relationships are more likely to rate their work culture positively, pursue raises and promotions, be happier with their compensation, and feel more satisfied with their career trajectory.
Mentorship and sponsorship can equalize workplace opportunities, formalizing relationships that have historically been more accessible to more men than women (and to more white people than those of color). However, many women don’t know how to begin cultivating these relationships, particularly with sponsors. Over half of WIPN survey respondents who seek a mentor and/or a sponsor said they did not know how to find them.
Courageous Being was proud to co-present WIPN’s 2024 research on the Mentor/Sponsor boost at Broadridge 360 Advisor Summit on May 20, 2024 with Theresa Conti, WIPN Board Member, Chair of National Programming and Research, and Rosalyn Brown, WIPN President. We showcased how one key relationship can influence career dynamics, and highlighted specific solutions!
